The advent of modern technology and instant communication has not diminished interest in the art of calligraphy. Calligraphy is more than a communication medium. From the Greek 'kallos' -beauty and 'graphe' - writing, calligraphy is 'the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skilful manner '.
Modern calligraphy can take many forms, from the creation of an impressive piece of fine art, to the more functional lettering on a wedding invitation.
The pens offered here have stub nibs, available in different widths. A stub nib has a square-cut end which forms a rectangular 'footprint' on the page. Different stroke widths are produced depending upon the direction of the stroke.
The Lamy calligraph nibs, which are available in 1.1, 1.5 and 1.9mm widths, can be fitted in place of any standard Lamy nib.
