Visconti Fountain Pens

Visconti have revived the lost traditions of artistry and craftsmanship that were inherent in pen manufacture, particularly in the use of celluloid.

Celluloid, the first viable thermoplastic material is made from nitrocellulose (derived from cotton), plasticised with camphor. The manufacture of celluloid is a time consuming process and its use in pen manufacture had all but died out when Visconti embarked upon its revival. However, the depth and lustre of celluloid are unparalleled by more modern materials.

Celluloid is now frequently used in the production of Visconti's fine fountain pens, along with other more modern precious resins.
